FRUIT OF GOODNESS
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Psalm 23:6 (NIV2011)
I will sing the LORD’s praise, for he has been good to me.
Psalm 13:6 (NIV2011)
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life
through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises,
so that through them you may participate in the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness;
and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control;
and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;
and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
2 Peter 1:3-7 (NIV2011)
Have you noticed that every fruit of the Spirit is linked to the very nature of who God is? God has given us what we need in order for us to PARTICIPATE in the very nature of God. God wants us to be like Him.
The more we are really present with Him, the more He rubs off on us. Or should I say, He pours Himself into us.
God is always present with us, but are not always present with Him.
As we meditate and think about God’s goodness to us more and more, we might be able to sing like the Psalmist, “Surely Your goodness will follow me all the days of my life.”
How have you experienced the goodness of God?
How can you carry the goodness of God in you life?
Please pray for your leaders to be good.
Please pray for our church family to know and experience the goodness of God. Please pray that we are transformed by God’s goodness.
Please pray about how you can minister with God’s goodness today.
What is one thing for which you are grateful today?
