GROWING COMES FROM SUFFERING
Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace
in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings,
knowing that suffering produces endurance,
and endurance produces character,
and character produces hope,
and hope does not put us to shame,
because God’s love has been poured into our hearts
through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Romans 5:2-5 (ESV)
Suffering produces something. It produces endurance, which leads to character, which builds hope. We most often avoid problems and suffering. When we can’t avoid them and find ourselves in troubles and suffering, we try to get out as soon as possible. Don’t let your suffering be wasted. Instead of just trying to get out of suffering, try to get all you can out of suffering. Make suffering pay. As you endure with as much grace and joy and peace as possible you are building character and when that happens you become hope full that God can use you and any situation for His glory and instead of just trying to get out of suffering, we are trying to squeeze out all the glory and hope we can in our suffering.
How do you react and respond to suffering? Do you see it as an opportunity? Crisis is always an opportunity to grow to be bigger people for God.
Write your thoughts or a prayer.
Please pray for our church family to squeeze endurance, character and hope out of all of our suffering.
Please pray for the outreach event April 11,
Write down one time of suffering for which you are thankful now.
